How did Sonical Sports become the leading overgrip
manufacturer in China, serving customers the world-over? It started with
a passion for chemistry and an idea that developed into the highest quality overgrip and grip tape products
on the market today.
In 2004, a young Chemistry
Olympic Contest champion named David Dai missed the opportunity for express
admission as a chemistry major in an elite university because he has Daltonism.
He was admitted to the same university but under a math major instead. While at
college, Mr. Dai met two professional tennis trainers and became a middle-trader
of tennis/badminton overgrips. Seeing the opportunity presented in the
overgrips industry, he decided to tap into his passion for chemistry to develop
his own overgrips formulation.
In 2006, partnering with the
tennis trainers and a sports management professional, the former champion
founded Sonical Sports, with its factory located in Tongan Industry Dist.,
Xiamen, China. The first 5 years were the most difficult time for Sonical
Sports. Luckily, with advanced R&D ability (which includes self-developed
formulation and machines) and close cooperation with some experienced
Taiwanese factories, Sonical made significant progress from 2012 to 2014. The
company has since become one of the biggest domestic overgrips manufacturers in
China.
In 2014, the team at Sonical
Sports became complete when a UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles)
alumna joined and took over the company’s international business department.
Now, Sonical Sports looks forward to working with sports product distributors
and tennis/badminton brands all over the world.
